//Font development

I'm responsible for Google's fonts program. Our catalog of over 1800 font families is used in Google Workspace, Google Ads, Material Design, Youtube and is available in our font catalog on Google Fonts. It covers 1,000 languages and over 150 writing systems.

All fonts on Google Fonts (with the exception of our own brand fonts) are open source and available to anyone without payment required. The catalog includes many open source donations that our onboarding team QAs and support the work needed to meet our quality requirements.

For priority font projects we will commission type foundries from around the world. Google Fonts have been recognized with various high profile international Design and Type Design awards (including TDC, D@AD, Red Dot, Granshan, European Design Award and the internal Google UX Award).

Roboto Serif is a variable typeface family designed to create a comfortable and frictionless reading experience. Minimal and highly functional, it is useful anywhere.

Roboto Flex—a major upgrade to Roboto. With a huge range of weights and widths across optical sizes, Roboto Flex was designed to be super scalable, adaptable, amd customizable.

Noto is a collection of high-quality fonts with multiple weights and widths in sans, serif, mono, and other styles in more than 1,000 languages and over 150 writing systems.

The Dancing Font from Outer Space. The animated variable font Kablammo has landed on planet Earth

British visual artist and philosopher Shantell Martin is famous for using words in her artwork. To inspire others to have fun with writing and words, she teamed up with Arrow Type to create Shantell Sans.
